All Thundercat wants to do is party, sliding along the dancefloor in ecstasy. That’s all the guy wants to do and he’ll be damned if some buzzkilling chick’s going to stand in his way.
Sure, he mentions on his Flying Lotus- and Mono/Poly-produced track “Oh Sheit It’s X,” he’d love if this woman, with the nice leather purse, joined him to revel in this ecstasy. But over a beat ripped straight from the ’80s, which is so infectiously funky it probably should’ve been the background music to one of the later “Beverly Hills Cop” movies, he won’t let anyone’s ambivalence or unwanted insistence faze him. No, he’ll be out there on the dancefloor. Just enjoying that X, man.
Apocalypse, Thundercat’s balefully titled sophomore LP, will be out digitally on June 4 and in physical form on June 9, courtesy of Brainfeeder.
