Sorry, Chris Brown and Drake. Fat Timbaland’s the one who knows the main ingredient to making Aaliyah’s music a winning combination.

The Virgina-born producer’s back in vogue after his work on Jay Z’s latest album. With the new-found interest comes interviews and the producer’s letting his hair down for the cameras. During a recent round of press with Revolt, Tim candidly explains why collaborations by Drake (“Enough Said”) and Chris Brown (“Don’t Think They Know”) were doomed from the start. According to Timbo, “Aaliyah’s music only work with its soulmate, which is me.”

Tim also shared who he’d like to work with next on the rap side. Recalling a conversation between him and Jay, Tim shares that “the person who gets me from Hip-Hop now,” he said with an animated facial expression, “that album’s going to be phenomenal. And that’s Nas.” He goes on to reveal that there’s an unreleased track that Nas has with Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake called “Sinatra In The Sands.”
