In a recent interview, Usher told Atlanta’s V103 radio station that his new, Diplo-produced track “Climax” has absolutely nothing to do with sex. Nothing. Instead, he framed the song as “…an out-of-control experience. [And] a person [has] kind of reached the peak of that experience.” He continued to explain the song’s meaning as “When you’re in a relationship and it’s kinda reached the climax of where it could go, you gotta let it go if you’re not gonna commit and that’s what the song’s about.”
But none of this means you can’t apply your own interpretation to the song and use it as means to an end. And by that we mean play the smoldering song as a part of your foreplay ritual. Metaphorical meanings be damned.
