Utah’s C.J. Miles Dunks On Lamar Odom

C.J. Miles is a role player, bouncing between the starting lineup and the bench for the Utah Jazz. Few casual fans know his name. He plays in Utah, so off the top, no one thinks he’s cool. But luckily for us, he isn’t willing to accept this lack of notoriety. Last night against the Dallas Mavericks, Miles decided to show off a bit for the national audience watching on TNT. With a quick, devastating cross, he cut past Shawn Marion into the lane, rose up, and threw one down over Lamar Odom. Damn. Kind of reminds me of the jam Paul Pierce put on on Chris Bosh a few years back – Miles gets no elevation here, but he absolutely wanted Odom to feel this dunk.

And hopefully, Lamar did. Maybe it’ll serve as a wakeup call for him. Last year, Odom averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3 assists a game for the Lakers. This year? He’s putting up roughly half that – just 7.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists a game for the Mavericks. If the defending champs have any shot at repeating, they’ll need much, much more from Odom.

Or maybe, C.J. Miles posterized him, and then Lamar went home to eat Skittles or something. That’s cool with me too.
