Gather around kids as DJ Paul sits down with KarmaloopTV and reveals a pretty cool tale about the late, great Chad Butler none of us knew prior to viewing. Paul explains the story how he and Three 6 took a trip to Atlanta during Super Bowl weekend in January 2000; a trip that damn near him killed and everyone else on board because of decrepit driving conditions. Plus, his SkyTel Pager was lost in the madness, which made communication all but impossible.
Following an honest day’s work of manual labor, Bun and The Pimp open their studios to Paul, Juicy and company and eventually lay down their guest spots on “Sippin On Sizzurp.” From there, the song went on to take on a life of its own and became a monster hit from Triple 6’s When The Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1. Fast forward a few years, Chad is locked up and DJ Paul reveals how one jail conversation and Pimp’s adoration for Project Pat’s “I Choose You” would eventually spawn one of the greatest songs in Hip-Hop history.
Maybe it’s just me, but these type of stories will never, ever get old.
