Capcom’s Devil May Cry series was a staple of the Playstion 2, a fast-paced, stylistic example of how well action games could be rendered in the post 64 bit-era. We haven’t heard from series protagonist Dante in a while, which makes of Capcom rebooting the series all the more exciting. If the game’s new trailer is any indication, fans of the series won’t be disappointed.
Tentatively titled DmC: Devil May Cry, it isn’t hard to notice where Capcom is making creative changes. Instead of putting the player in gothic, bleached backdrops, most of the game seems to take place in a more colorful, modernized city. Dante also appears to have been given a face lift (although he still displays his signature arrogance). Thankfully, the gameplay doesn’t seem to have been tinkered with much. The series is known for deftly blending run-and-gun with hack-and-slash; straying away from that would surely have fans in an uproar. Plot details aren’t immediately clear, but this seems like a totally re-conceptualized version of the series. Some aspects will probably be similar to previous entries, others won’t be.
