To the experienced toker, 4/20 isn’t a reason to dance in the streets; if you’re really about that life, you were smoking the day before, the day after, and the day after that. But if some incredible stoner-rap tandem were to, say, drop the follow-up to one of Hip-Hop’s best collabo mixtapes ever? That’s a reason to roll up a celebratory spliff if I’ve ever heard of one.
Enter Wiz Kahlifa and Spitta Andretti.
Both have seen their careers flourish since 2009’s How Fly. And while it’d be stupid to dismiss projects like Kush & OJ or the Pilot Talk series – because they’re obviously great – there was something genuinely special about Wiz and Curren$y putting their best efforts towards such a great mixtape. The only that smelled stronger than their chronic was their genuine respect for each other. In a genre where so many would-be collaborations fall flat on their face – looking in your direction, Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana; Big K.R.I.T. and Yelawolf – the How Fly boys took matters into their own hands and just made it work.
And that’s exactly what we have with Live In Concert: another great entry in two resumes full of them. Wiz sounds as energized as he has in years, and Spitta keeps coming through with that Jet style that had a lot of us in the market for crew sweaters and beanies. The quality here is undeniable; we’ll be blasting this for months to come.
Nothing else to say, really; the rest of your day has just been made very special by the hardest working stoners in rap. Stream the track individually, then act accordingly by picking up the project on iTunes.
