Last week, author Bret Easton Ellis revealed the news that there was a film written for Kanye just waiting on rap’s resident provocateur to pick it up. Fast forward to today and, through his site, Kanye releases a trailer for what’s said to be a full length film. Even more, he indicates it’s “coming to theaters.” Yeah, buddy, Yeezy at yo’ cineplex.
However, the footage doesn’t look like a traditional film at all. Instead, what little bit of the Hype Williams-helmed visual we get to see in the clip looks like it’s made of Yeezus tour footage. A quick Google search pulled up a gossip rag with “sources” that indicate the flick will be more personal and it will reportedly feature Yeezy baby momma.
“It’s going to be based on the ‘Yeezus‘ album,” a source close to West tells Radar exclusively. “That’s pretty much a narrative of Kanye’s life.”
“They’re still working on the script, so it’s unclear at this point if Kim will be a major star of the movie or making a smaller cameo,” the insider explains, “but her role in the movie will be pivotal.”
Whatever the final product turns out to be remember that this isn’t ‘Ye’s first foray into visuals since he had the “Runaway” short film and countless, longer videos in his portfolio. And maybe, just maybe, if it is about Yeezus, it will work in conjunction with the LP to help make the overall concept more clear. Hell, it couldn’t get any further lost in translation for me.
