“Tell Justin Timberlake that I am comin’ for Jessica Biel…”
By summer, expect Young Thug to be a recognizable name in Hip-Hop. And not recognizable by mixtape, Internet standards. More like a commercial scale. With co-signs from Kanye, Wale and more, the buzz behind his name gains another notch of credibility (if that’s correct term) with Nicki Minaj lending her services to “Danny Glover.”
Give Nicki the benefit of the doubt though. She probably hasn’t had time to sit down and read Thug’s recent chat with Complex. If she had, she’d know the new school ATLien isn’t looking for a Migos/”Versace”/Drake-like handout.
“If you feel that you can just come in the studio and freestyle on my song, then I’m ready to rap battle you,” Thug said. “That’s just how I feel about it because I know I’m way harder than another rapper freestyling on my song. I don’t want them to think that they good and that they’re doing me a favor.”
Nevertheless, the Nicki Minaj feature/remix assault tour continues was Young Money’s First Lady dibbling and dabbling in various flows while threatening to have sex with all of our girlfriends and wives. Interestingly enough, however, I’m welcoming new music from Nicki. Beyond the obvious (and successful) crossover ventures, the long-standing belief remains when Minaj gives a damn to, she can be as entertaining and impressive on a mic as she damn well pleases.
Her “Danny Glover” appearance won’t do much in hammering home the notion she’ll be taking home the “lyricist of the year” award come December. But I’ll be damned if the entertainment factor wasn’t present. And you’re damn right her verse was ran back two or three times for good measure.
