I didn't watch Monday Night Football last night. I just assumed that since the Eagles had lost Donnie McNabb for the season and looked a little lost with Jeff Garcia last week… well, we'd see a couple Steve Smith touchdowns and that would be that.
But you know how it goes: a sixty-year-old actor who can barely speak and makes utterly preposterous movies stands on the sidelines, and that's clearly why Garcia was able to channel the ghost of Randall Cunningham to throw for 312 yards and 3 TDs in a 27-24 win. Don't try to tell me the players on the field made it happen, okay? It was fucking Rocky that made them win.
Whatever the case, Eagles fans are hoarse from the excitement, while Panthers fans are predictably incredulous. I, in turn, remain apathetic… but potentially amused at the prospect of an 8-8 team making the playoffs. Being a fan of an NFC team rocks.
