After beating the Vikings last week, everyone had Arizona pegged as an NFC dark horse that could replicate their conference championship run from a year ago (Wow, that was only a year ago?!). But forget all that; the Cardinals just got spanked in the Monday Night game against…San Francisco? The Niners D registered four sacks and quarterback Alex Smith threw for two TDs as the Niners rolled, 24-9.
“Each of our backs had a fumble. That’s certainly not acceptable,” Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “Obviously it was ugly for us. We’re all disappointed and embarrassed.”
“I can’t really express to you how proud I am of our team,” [Niners coach Mike] Singletary said. “That was the thing we talked about all week: ‘Let’s go out and see how good we can be without killing ourselves.”‘ –FOXSports.com
The Cardinals registered seven turnovers in all, including two picks thrown by Kurt Warner. And after he threw those, he was probably like, “Gosh darn it” or something, because he’s religious and all that. But this game proves that any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday. Wait, this was a Monday night game. Aw, forget it.
