After beating Canada on Sunday night, the US men’s national team took the ice today to face Switzerland, who gave America all it could handle; it came to a handful of borderline calls, including this no-goal call at the end of the second period. But America advances to the medal round on the back of Zach Parise, whose two goals were the difference in their 2-0 quarterfinal victory.
The men will face the Czech Republic/Finland winner on Friday; they’ll get tomorrow off, and if they can win there, they’ll face (I’m guessing) either Canada or Russia for the gold. The American women will play tomorrow for the
golf gold medal against Canada. So will America finally embrace hockey as a national sport and finally appreciate the athleticism and skill level of…hang on a second…I just saw somebody drop a quarter on the floor.
Merci, @cellblock303, for the screencap.
