Weeks after screaming at Alex Rodriguez, Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden screamed 106 pitches past the Tampa Bay Rays, all without allowing a single baserunner. It was only the 19th perfect game in the history of MLB.
The closest the Rays got to a hit was Jason Bartlett’s(notes) liner to third leading off the game. Evan Longoria(notes) tried to bunt leading off the fifth, drawing boos from the small crowd.
“Pretty cool,” Braden said. “I don’t know what to think about it just yet. There’s definitely a select group. I’d like to have a career more than today.” –Y! Sports.
Maybe now at least one team will do away with the pink bats. Braden’s mother actually died when he was in high school. His grandmother, who raised him thereafter, was at the game.
“Let’s forget it, uh huh—and stick it, A-Rod,” said a chuckling Peggy Lindsey, who was in the stands watching.
Great advice for everyone. And yes, A-Rod can stick it.
