Look For Michael Vick To Start On Sunday

By 09.13.10

With Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb suffering from a concussion, the likelihood of Michael Vick making his first career start since 2006 has continued to grow. After Eagles head coach Andy Reid emphatically declared that Kolb will start in Week 2 in Detroit, the extent of Kolb’s injury became more clear.

The Eagles believe it will be a few days before they know if Kevin Kolb (concussion) will be cleared to play against the Lions on Sunday.

Coach Andy Reid has already said that Kolb will start if he’s healthy. But that hasn’t stopped fans and media from calling for Michael Vick to be under center regardless. If Vick ends up starting next week and performs well again, those calls will only get louder. –NBC Sports.

We mentioned earlier that Vick accounted for 278 yards of total offense after playing little more than the second half in the Eagles’ loss to Green Bay yesterday. Even if Kolb gets medical clearance to play by Friday [SPOILER ALERT: He won’t be], it might be too late in the week for him to get up to speed. And if the Eagles have who has to be the best backup quarterback in the NFL right now, why rush to bring him back?
