The Best (And Mostly Depressing) Of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Son’s AMA On Reddit

By / 05.17.13

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been a busy man as of late, from penning his stinging critiques of HBO’s hit series Girls to teaching the WNBA newest star, Brittney Griner, how to perfect the skyhook shot. So it makes sense that he might not have as much time to spend with his kids as he’d like, and they’re also adults now, so they should probably stop being so damned clingy.

I kid, of course, as I don’t know much about Kareem’s family life, other than he had three children with his first wife and then another two after that. Fortunately, the youngest Abdul-Jabbar son, Adam*, had some time to share with us a new perspective on growing up as the son of one of the NBA’s most iconic big men of all-time, as well as a few other things that he’s picked up along the way, in an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit last weekend.

I am Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s youngest son, but I’m also a very multifaceted individual with a lot of insight and interesting personal experiences(like doing dmt). AMA about anything at all if that interests you in the slightest.

DMT is, for the unaware like me, a naturally-occurring psychedelic drug that, when smoked, can really f*ck a person up. Seriously, read about it. It makes people bonkers.

Naturally, most Redditors wanted to know about Adam’s relationship with Kareem, and let’s just say that it was emotional and educational.

Harmless and wonderful enough. As I never got to witness Kareem playing, my most enjoyable memory of his incredibly vast and expansive career is when he played Roger Murdoch, so I’m glad to see I’m not alone. So what else? What about home life?

Well. Okay then.

But at least you got that sweet necklace, right? Anywho, I’m going to go do something else now because this is depressing.

*He obviously didn’t include his name, but one Redditor asked him if he was the son that appeared with Kareem in an episode of Full House and he said yes, and that was Adam. So that’s the most investigative work I’ll do for the rest of the year.
