This pitch is something I can’t resist. This pitch is undeniable!
I was in St. Pete for Saturday’s Rays/Astros game, and it was great. The Rays won 4-3, the game was full of powerful home runs and great defensive plays and it was “Disco Night,” so a guy was walking around in a nightmare-inducing “Disco Duck” costume and KC and the Sunshine Band played when it was done. I didn’t stick around for that. Oh, and as a Cleveland Indians fan it was fun/somewhat depressing to watch the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona pitch.
Sadly, the only eventful thing to happen at the Trop this weekend (in comedy sports blog terms) was Sunday’s appearance by ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer Carly Rae Jepsen. Holy shit, you guys. When I tell you her ceremonial first pitch is one of the worst ever, I’m not exaggerating. It hits the CAMERAMAN. It’s worse than KC and the entire Sunshine Band.
Good lord. Video is after the jump.
Maybe she would’ve done a better job with Owl City behind the plate.
On the upside, the GIF of her reaction is adorable.
… as is the Instagram recap, featuring sympathy hugs and a sad cameraman.
Bonus, just to make the situation weirder: DJ Kitty was there.
Don’t let this pitch fool you, though, Carly Rae is one of the best pitchers in baseball. She’ll never allow another hit!
(Thank you, I’ll be here all week.)
