Yesterday the Texas Longhorns managed to sneak out of Jack Trice Stadium with a 31-30 win over the Iowa State Cyclones. As a resident of Austin this is one of those things I’m supposed to be proud of by proxy, but I can’t be, because it also featured the most hilariously unnecessary and mean cheap shot I’ve ever seen.
Iowa State’s Deon Broomfield is minding his own business, thinking about whatever it is people who live in Iowa think about (theory: corn), when Texas wide receiver Mike Davis decides to take out his knee. I’ve seen Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael deliver shots that were less cheap, and I’m including the wrestling version.

My goal for today is to show this to as many Texans as possible, and to have as many Texans as possible respond to it with a hoot (or a holler) and say something rude about Iowa. Like, “people from Iowa only think about corn.”
