Utah’s Hogle Zoo’s Eli The Ape Has Made His Super Bowl XLVIII Prediction

When it comes to picking the winners of major sporting events, nobody ever does it better than so-called “psychic” animals. For example, Paul the psychic octopus dominated the World Cup years ago, Jimmy Fallon’s Golden Retriever puppies picked the Boston Red Sox to defeat my St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 World Series (bunch of adorable little jerks), and Eli the ape has correctly picked the last six Super Bowl winners. Well, Eli the ape, a resident of Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah, made his highly-anticipated pick for Super Bowl XLVIII today, and he has never been this certain about a winner before.

According to Eli, the Seattle Seahawks will be victorious on Sunday, which is not sitting well with some of the staff’s Denver Broncos fans.

“He made his pick without any hesitation,” Hansen said.

That could mean bad news for Broncos fans. The 13-year-old primate hasn’t been wrong since 2006.

Last year, Eli charged out and knocked over a papier-mache goal post decorated with the Ravens logo. Sure enough, the Ravens beat the 49ers 34-31.

Eli’s pick this year drew mixed reactions from his team of zookeepers that include avid Broncos fans.

“They are hoping that this is his first wrong year,” Hansen said. (Via the AP)

We try as hard as we can to remain impartial and unbiased in such sports prognostications; however, this is simply something that cannot be ignored. If I was a Denver Broncos fan right now, I’d probably be crying and settling with the fact that all my hopes and dreams have already been crushed by an ape.
