Russia’s Olga Graf Almost Gave Us The First Nip Slip Of The 2014 Winter Olympics

By all accounts, Russian speedskater Olga Graf wasn’t supposed to be wearing any extra jewelry after she competed in the 3000m speedskating event this year. But she surprised herself and many other people when she won the bronze medal yesterday, not only because she performed so well, but also because she almost got naked in front of the world. After recording her personal best time, the 30-year old unzipped the top on her suit during her celebratory lap, not realizing that she wasn’t wearing anything but the birthday suit she was born with underneath.

While she could have been incredibly embarrassed by the mistake, Graf seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about it.

“I totally forgot,” Graf said sheepishly through a translator. “We have very good suits and they are very tight. … You just want to breathe and you want to take off your suit.”

When she realized her faux pas, Graf quickly zipped the suit back up with a mortified smile.

“Only afterward,” she said, “did I realize that maybe this video will appear on YouTube. But I don’t think it will be so bad.” (Via the AP)

Nah, don’t worry about that, Olga. NBC won’t let its footage be posted on YouTube, so you only have to worry about people watching the highlight video right here. And even then, we can’t embed that footage, so you only have to worry about endless GIFs of the Unzipping Heard ‘Round the World…
