Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson Has Been Indicted For Child Abuse

Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Montgomery County, Texas for child abuse, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston.

There’s a bit of typo in the tweet there as Peterson is represented by “Rusty Hardin,” arguably one of the best trial lawyers in the country. You may remember him as the man who represented Roger Clemens during his fiasco with Congress. As for the details involving the child abuse case, there’s not much known at this point. Fox 26 says the allegations involve Peterson’s young son and NFL reporter Ian Rapoport seems to verify that with this tweet.

Peterson missed practice yesterday for what the Vikings called a “veteran day” and his status for this week is unclear. Needless to say this is the worst week in NFL history. Also a bad week for humanity.

UPDATE: Peterson allegedly whipped the boy with a switch, which for those of you not raised by old-school parents in the South is a slender tree limb.

Via TMZ:

Sources connected to Peterson tell us … the alleged victim is a male child from Minnesota who was visiting Adrian back in May at AP’s home in Texas. We’re told the child returned home to his mother in Minn. who noticed injuries and took the child to a doctor. A short time later, the doctor contacted authorities in Texas to report Adrian.

Let the the national debate on spanking commence!
