The Bears’ Offensive Coordinator Reportedly Broke Down In Tears During A Team Meeting

Earlier this week, it was reported by NFL Insiders that front office members of the Chicago Bears were having “buyer’s remorse” after giving Jay Cutler a 7-year, $126.7 million contract in the offseason that included $54 million guaranteed. According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, there has been doubt within the organization that Cutler can ever lead them to a Super Bowl. On Thursday we learned that Bears offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer was the man behind the critical comments of Cutler, and he broke down crying during an emotional team meeting earlier this week where he apologized to the team for making his comments public.

Four sources told the Tribune that Kromer adamantly denied he said anything about the franchise having buyer’s remorse for Cutler’s blockbuster contract and assured players that portion of Sunday’s report on NFL Network did not come from him. With Cutler in the room, Kromer did admit however to being frustrated with the quarterback’s play management and expressing that to Ian Rapoport as he left Soldier Field on Dec. 4 after the fifth loss in seven games.

Cutler shook his head during Kromer’s apology, one source said.

Okay I’m going to need context for Cutler just shaking his head. Was it in disappointment? Anger? Or…doooooooon’t caaaaaare?

Yeah I’m assuming he probably didn’t care.

The Bears are 5-8 on the season and were officially eliminated from playoff contention last weekend after the Lions and Seahawks both won. Since joining the Bears in 2009, Cutler has lead the team to the playoffs just one time in 2010, where they lost 21-14 to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game.
