This High School Quarterback Goes Airborne To Secure His Team’s Victory With An Acrobatic Touchdown

Quarterback Ross Bowers of Bothell High School in Washington won’t forget this season for a long time. Not only did he help lead his team to an undefeated season, but he managed to top it off with this memorable touchdown to seal his school’s first state championship. From The Seattle Times:

The Cougars (14-0) got contributions from a variety of players — including a pair of 100-yard rushing efforts by Caleb Meyer (105) and Damani St. John-Watkins (103) — but it was the head-over-heels play by Bowers for the clinching TD in the final seconds of the third quarter that caught everyone’s attention.

Scrambling on third-and-goal from the 4, Bowers — the son of UW gymnastics coach Joanne Bowers — did a complete flip as he was hit hurdling into the end zone and landed on both feet for the score.

“That was like a video-game play,” teammate Dayzell Wilson said in amazement.

The video above captures the scoring play from the perfect view, almost too perfect for a second. I thought I was watching some viral ad for Gatorade at first (and it probably will be turned into one). The result was like something Hollywood would’ve added in to a movie like Remember The Titans, except this was reality.

You couldn’t ask for a cooler way to end your senior year as a football star, though. Going out like Elway.
