Watch Brandon Gibson Speak For Mike Wallace In This Bizarre Postgame Interview

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace finished the 2014 NFL season with 62 catches for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns. Not spectacular numbers, but certainly decent enough to be considered the team’s first option as well as forming a nice receiver combination heading into next season with rookie Jarvis Landry. At least, so you’d think. If reports are true following the Dolphins 37-24 loss to the Jets on Sunday, Wallace may have ruined a good thing by asking to sit out the 2nd half.

After Wallace sat out the second half, multiple reports noted that Wallace had been benched by the coaching staff. NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington, though, was told by several team sources that the pass-catcher wasn’t just “benched,” but pulled himself from the contest.

After Dolphins tight end Charles Clay scored a touchdown with 43 seconds left in the half, Wallace came off the field and told coach Joe Philbin that he no longer wanted to play, per Darlington.

After the game, things got a bit weird as Wallace stood in front of the media in silence while WR Brandon Gibson stood behind him and answered questions seemingly on Wallace’s behalf. This was certainly a bizarre end to a promising season for the Dolphins.
