No one knows what’s going to happen with Marshawn Lynch, least of all the Seattle Seahawks. According to multiple reports today, Lynch is considering retirement.

To be honest, this isn’t new information. Back in November, the Seahawks wondered aloud if Lynch wanted to play football again. Lynch, by the way, has played 8 seasons and is 28-years-old. He’s got some miles on him.

One issue for Lynch is health-related. He’s missed just one game in the last four years, but he has battled back pain throughout. Thanks to countless hits over the course of his career, the cartilage in his spinal cord is compressed, which brings him discomfort. That’s just one factor as he ponders his future.

Going forward this is a legitimate concern, both for Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks. They likely need a definitive decision from him before the NFL draft. In addition, the Seahawks have to shell out a hefty sum of cash to keep him around, reportedly around $10 million for 2015.

Needless to say, all signs point to a difficult decision for all parties involved in the coming weeks.
