Dan Patrick Dropped A Nasty Zinger On Colin Cowherd One Day After Cowherd Questioned His Work Ethic

Alright, some background is necessary here because this is geeky media stuff some of you guys might not be familiar with. Yesterday, radio host Colin Cowherd of ESPN called out NBC’s Dan Patrick (formerly of ESPN) for being lazy (in not so many words). To be specific, Cowherd said Patrick needed “35 producers to fill a segment.”

I’ve worked in this business 35 years. Skip outworks all of us. The hardest working guy when I got into this business was Jim Rome … That guy grinds it every day. You don’t know anybody that works like him. This radio business I’m in is full of guys who read the sports page and rip crap off. I’m here three hours a day. So is Rome-y. Dan Patrick doesn’t work as hard as Rome — not even close. That’s why I’ve always respected Rome-y. He puts the time in. Patrick needs 35 producers to fill a segment.

Patrick, of course, didn’t take this criticism lying down and zinged Cowherd at the end of his radio show (full video above) today. Here’s the ‘drop the mic’ moment.

No clue what sparked Cowherd’s initial comments here. Do the two of them not get along? Is someone jealous? Who knows and frankly who cares about the “inside baseball” of this nonsense. We’re just here for the Dan Patrick zinger.
