It Didn’t Take Long For Kansas Governor Sam Brownback To Jump On The Wichita State Bandwagon

Sam Brownback has alienated moderates and gay rights advocates as the Governor of Kansas, but he won’t split the state in twain over a college basketball game until he absolutely has to.

Brownback was in attendance at the Kansas Jayhawks vs. Wichita State Shockers game on Sunday night, and he didn’t get a whole lot of love from the crowd when he briefly popped up on camera wearing a shirt that attempted to appease fans of both schools. Later, after Wichita State clinched its upset over the Jayhawks, earning a trip to the Sweet 16, Brownback looked like a kid who dressed himself, layering a “King of Kansas” Wichita State t-shirt over the dual logo shirt, which was over a dress shirt.

Kinda makes you long for the days when Rudy Giuliani would unabashedly root for the Yankees when they took on the Mets. At least you knew that Rudy was being honest with his fandom instead of trotting out the “you’re all my favorite” party line, but Giuliani was unique in that respect. Which is a shame because who the hell would actually vote against a politician based solely on their fan affiliations? (Okay, probably plenty of people, so never mind.)
