FRIDAY
I’m not going to lie, this World Series of Fighting card has fallen apart. Injuries, contract issues and illness have all played a factor in rearranging things in significant ways. The prelims will begin at 7:00 PM ET on the NBC Sports website, while the main card starts at 9:00 PM ET on NBC Sports. There are still a few decent looking fights here, as Ben “Phoenix Jones” Fodor will be in action. There’s also the return of Nick Newell, who has a very good submission wrestling game.
Bellator’s lineup hasn’t been ravaged by injuries, so the card looks pretty good. Prelims start at 7:30 PM ET on Spike.com and feature two decent fights, as Saad Awad takes on Rob Sinclair in lightweight action, while Joey Beltran moves down to middleweight to take on Brian Rogers in what should be a slugfest.
The main card will start at 9:00 PM ET on Spike TV and features some very good fights. Alex Volkov takes on Tony Johnson in heavyweight action, two skilled lightweights in Marcin Held and Alex Sarnavskiy will throw down, top kickboxer Joe Schilling will square off with Rafael Carvalho at middleweight, and Will Brooks defends his lightweight title against Dave Jansen in the main event.
SATURDAY
It’s time for another mid-afternoon UFC card, though this one is coming from Poland, which explains the early start time. UFC Fight Night 64 will start at 11:45 AM ET on Fight Pass with eight prelim fights. There are some fighters making their Octagon debuts, like undefeated strawweight Alexandra “Stitch” Albu in addition to some long-standing UFC vets, like Seth Baczynski, who closes out the prelims against Leon Edwards.
The main card will start at 3:00 PM ET, also on Fight Pass. Joanne Calderwood returns to action as she looks to make a splash in the cutthroat strawweight division, while the main event is a rematch as Gabe Gonzaga meets Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic for the second time in a heavyweight clash. It should be some fun stuff to watch!
The weekend ends with some standard, classic boxing on NBC, as Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin takes on Andy Lee, while Danny Garcia brings his six-toed foot into battle against Lamont Peterson. The fights begin at 8:30 PM ET, so get ready for some fisticuffs!
