It has been 26 years since Bo Jackson’s famous Nike campaign, and 22 years since Jackson hit the go-ahead three-run homer to help the White Sox clinch the 1993 AL West title. So, I suppose we can forgive young White Sox fan Drake LaRoche for not fully realizing who he was talking to during the pair’s recent conversation together.

LaRoche, the 13-year-old son of newly acquired White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche, had a nice little moment with the two-sport legend during warmups at the team’s spring training field in Glendale, Ariz. After Jackson casually mentioned that much of his baseball success occurred in the late ’80s when LaRoche’s dad was even younger than he is now, the teenager seemed even more surprised that Bo also played football once upon a time.

“I’m the only player to make it to the Pro Bowl in football and the All-Star Game in baseball,” Jackson said. “And I’m the MVP of the All-Star Game.”

“That’s pretty awesome,” said LaRoche.

Awesome, indeed.

Hey, do you think this kid has ever heard of former White Sox minor leaguer, Michael Jordan?
