A Red Wings Fan Was Charged With Arson After Trying To Set A Lightning Flag On Fire

Prior to Game 7 of the Lightning-Red Wings series on Wednesday night, a visiting Wings fan from Michigan tried to set fire to a huge Tampa Bay Lightning flag as it passed over a section of the arena. Nobody was hurt and the fire didn’t spread, but the fan was later arrested and charged with arson.

Lena Sinishtaj, 35, off Sterling Heights, Michigan, was booked on a charge of first-degree arson of an occupied structure. She was being held without bond.

About 200 people in Section 130 were under the 20-by-30-foot flag during a pregame show when Sinishtaj held a lit lighter to it, authorities said. The fire caused a small burn.

It’s gonna be a long drive home for Sinishtaj. Not only was she arrested and charged with a felony for doing something silly, but her favorite team’s season ended just hours later in a Game 7 shutout to the Lightning. That’s a pretty bad day.
