Cubs superstar-in-training Kris Bryant is off to a respectable start to his rookie season with an on-base percentage of .395, but one thing the young power-hitter had not yet done through his first 20 games was hit home run. That finally changed on Saturday.

With the Brewers leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Bryant finally connected for his first homer, a three-run shot to deep left. Afterwards, Bryant made his way back to the dugout, only to find it completely empty, as all of his teammates were hiding in the clubhouse.

After the game, Bryant talked about the moment he realized he was jogging back to an empty dugout.

“They do that a lot of times with the rookies, so, it was pretty funny that they all came in here. They were all waiting over [by the clubhouse door]. And then, kind of like a mosh pit, punching me and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, it was fun.”

Unfortunately, the fun didn’t last long for the Cubs, as they lost 12-4 in a game where they ran out of pitchers, and catcher David Ross was forced to make an appearance. But at least their young slugger is finally on the board with the first of what is expected to be many career homers.
