Mother’s Day was yesterday, in case you missed it. In the early afternoon, while legions of families descended upon our nation’s brunch institutions, some mothers opted instead to head to the ballpark for a Sunday baseball game. One such mother took her infant child and strapped that child to his father’s chest, hoping that should any baseballs hurtle in the general direction of the child’s soft head, the father would make a play. Sure enough, it came to pass.

Barehanding a foul ball is a great accomplishment, and I understand that the dude was feeling himself, but he could tone the flexing down just a tad. What if his baby doesn’t like all the bouncing? This was at the Phillies-Mets game in Philadelphia, and the Phillies’ TV crew tracked down the dad:

It’s a wonderful memory and a great story for the kid’s first baseball souvenir, so we’ll let the fact that they named their son DeColton (DeKolton? DaKoltan?) slide this time.
