Alex Rodriguez hit another milestone dinger on Thursday night in the Bronx, moving past Willie Mays with his 661st career home run. A-Rod’s blast to left-center field in the third inning gave the Yankees third baseman sole possession of fourth place on Major League Baseball’s career home run list.

Rodriguez has long been a polarizing figure in baseball, especially after admitting to his past steroid use. He was suspended for the entirety of last season for performance-enhancing drugs and has received a significant amount of criticism from those who work for and support the Yankees, but his milestone homer on Thursday night was received with a rousing ovation from those in attendance at Yankee Stadium and, ultimately, led to a curtain call.
