Bryce Harper Took A Selfie On The Field With A Fan’s Phone

Bryce Harper is unstoppable right now. He’s becoming the megastar that he was destined to be when he was drafted first overall at 17 in 2010, as he’s currently leading all of baseball in home runs, OPS, runs and walks. He’s also still only 22, which means he’s young enough to still be brimming with youthful enthusiasm… and a love for selfies.

According to the Associated Press, Washington Nationals fan Jamie Roach was attempting to take a selfie with Harper in-frame before the second game of the Nats’ doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays. Harper noticed, and wanted to improve Roach’s selfie game.

“They were trying to take a selfie with me,” Harper told the AP. “I went over there and said, ‘Hey, toss me the phone and I’ll do it for you.’ “

That produced the lovely photo above, which Roach obviously sent to all her friends — I mean, wouldn’t you? — and which is now making the rounds online. When the AP showed him the picture, he called it “pretty good.” I wonder where the photo lost points to him? The giant herbal bulge in his lip? The background not being straight?

We think it’s better than “pretty good,” Bryce. Any selfie gets bumped up to near-legendary status if it’s taken on the field and you’re, you know, a professional athlete.
