Sixteen Years Ago, Bobby Valentine Put On A Fake Mustache After Being Ejected

As SportsCenter pointed out this morning, today is the 16th anniversary of Bobby Valentine’s fake mustache incident. If you recall, on June 9, 1999, Mets manager Bobby Valentine was ejected after arguing a call. He returned minutes later in the dugout with a hat, glasses and a fake mustache made of eye black.

The gag, while hilarious, didn’t go over well with MLB officials. He was fined $5,000 and given a two-game suspension.

Totally worth it.

Also, “THAT’S A FAKE MUSTACHE … NO IT’S NOT” is still the best clip from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
