UFC 188 Live Discussion: Brown Pride & Prejudice Featuring Mr. D’Arcey

Hey fight fans, UFC 188 is a big-time pay-per-view event live, from Mexico City! That’s pretty cool, right? It’s also the only fight-game in town this weekend, so let’s take a closer look at the whole card.

SATURDAY

UFC 188

The UFC 188 card starts with early prelims on Fight Pass starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Sadly, one fight was scratched when Andrew Todhunter had complications with his weight cut and had to pull out, depriving everyone of an Albert “Einstein” Tumenov thrashing. There’s still Clay Collard taking on “Moggly” Benitez and “Dodger” Montano facing Cathal Pendred, and those should be decent fights.

The regular prelims will be on FX, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. The best fight here is actually the smallest as Henry Cejudo and Chico Camus have a flyweight clash that will move the winner closer to title contention and a date with the unstoppable Demetrious Johnson.

The main card starts at 10:00 p.m. ET, and is only available on PPV. The first bout is a strawweight fight between TUF 20 alums, Tecia Torres and Angela Hill. That should be an exciting striking battle. There’s also Nate Marquardt welcoming former TUF champ Kelvin Gastelum back to middleweight.

The co-main event is a fight that people have wanted for at least five years, as former Bellator and StrikeForce champions, Eddie Alvarez and Gilbert Melendez, finally meet in the UFC Octagon! This fight could help add to the logjam at the top of the lightweight division, which is always interesting.

The main event is a heavyweight title unification bout. The current champ, Cain Velasquez is returning after a two-year injury layoff to face the interim champion, Fabricio Werdum. This should be another quality fight.
