After months of hand-wringing over specifics, Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys finally reached a long-term contract just before Wednesday’s deadline. Barring something catastrophic, Dez should be a Cowboy for life, and he’s pretty excited about it:

“I smiled the whole way over here – I couldn’t even say nothing but just smile and laugh, because I couldn’t believe it,” Bryant said. “All I could just think about is that it’s a dream – a dream come true. I think the only thing that’s missing is a Super Bowl.”

Had the referees in Green Bay not committed a crime against humanity and nullified the Dez Bryant catch, the Cowboys might already have that elusive title. Nonetheless, they go into next season with one of the most devastating wide receivers in the game playing alongside a monstrous offensive line. Tony Romo should be the happiest about the Dez deal, but good ole’ Jerry Jones is already drinking the Super Bowl Kool-Aid. When he called Dez after the deal, Jerry expressed his Super Bowl ambition:

“Let’s just win five Super Bowls in a row. How about it?”

Five Super Bowls may be a tad bit ambitious, but the Cowboys are closer to a Lombardi trophy than they’ve been in a long time.
