An Argentinian Soccer Player Ate A Hamburger That A Fan Threw At Him

Sports make people hungry. When you exert energy at a high level over a long period of time, you need to eventually refuel. Sometimes athletes can’t wait until after games to grab a bite to eat, so they’ll munch on something mid-game. Examples of this are the time Mark Sanchez ate a hot dog on the sidelines while the Jets were blowing out the Raiders, or when ex-Kansas State guard Billy Walker showed how seriously he took the NIT by eating a tub of popcorn on the bench.

Apparently, a fan of the Argentinian Primera Division side Racing Club wanted to make sure Belgrano de Cordoba goalkeeper Juan Olave had all of the energy he needed when the clubs faced off on Sunday. The chivalrous fan threw a hamburger onto the pitch right in the vicinity of Olave, who walked over to the sandwich and ate it, because burgers are delicious and should be consumed whenever possible. Olave, appreciative of the move, thanked the fan, because that was really cool of whoever threw the burger onto the field, even if it was meant to be an insult.

The burger must have helped Olave out a lot, because he saved all three of Racing’s shots on goals and helped his side walk out of enemy territory with a 0-0 draw.
