Jimmy Kimmel Reveals That Vin Scully Will Return For His 67th Season With The Dodgers

The greatest baseball broadcaster of all time is returning for his 67th season in 2016. Vin Scully, the longtime play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers, will come back to the team that he’s lent his voice to for every year since 1950. This news is great, because there’s nothing better than listening to Scully call a game, especially when he tells one of the many stories that he’s heard during his time as a broadcaster.

Scully’s decision to come back was announced by Jimmy Kimmel in a video that played at Dodgers Stadium. According to Deadline, “The short video showed Kimmel in his ABC studio, as he dropped cardboard signs saying that Scully ‘is back for one more year (at least). God bless us everyone.'” Scully released a brief statement on his decision to return.

“I talked it over with my wife, Sandi, and my family and we’ve decided to do it again in 2016. There’s no place like home … and we look forward to being a part of it with all of our friends.”

The Dodgers’ president and CEO also released a statement, in which he called Scully a “national treasure” and said that he “makes every broadcast special.” Scully, who turns 88 this November, trimmed back his broadcast schedule in 2012, and did so again this season.
