Roger Clemens Doesn’t Get How Dunk Tanks Work In This Commercial

It was a spectacular week for commercials promoting something involved with ESPN. Over the weekend, the Worldwide Leader unveiled an intense new College Football Playoff commercial, which featured Urban Meyer talking about revenge while things honoring different college football teams flashed on the screen. Then, on Monday, ESPN finally released a This Is SportsCenter commercial starring New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who showed off his brand new Super Bowl ring to an audience of Kenny Mayne, Neil Everett and Stan Verrett, who pretended to like the Pro Bowl pass catcher’s new bling, but actually hated it.

Now, ESPN has a new commercial out for one of its more unique properties, the Longhorn Network. It prominently features Cy Young-winning pitcher and former Texas baseball star Roger Clemens at a dunk tank, only Clemens doesn’t quite understand how dunk tanks are supposed to work. Instead of sitting inside of the tank and letting people pay money to hit a target and send Rocket into a pool of water, he is having people sit inside of the tank while he fires fastballs at the target. Because he’s one of the best pitchers to ever live, Clemens is hitting the target every time he throws the ball.

ESPN released a few other ads for the Longhorn Network today, but none of them are nearly as good as this one.
