The Very First Goal Of The Premier League Season Was An Own Goal By Tottenham

Manchester United looked a little out of whack today in the first half of their first match of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, not registering a shot during the first 30 minutes.

Fortunately for them, Tottenham had that whole “scoring a goal for Manchester United” thing covered for them, as Tottenham defender Kyle Walker, who was attempting to prevent Wayne Rooney from getting a shot on goal, knocked it into the back of his own net while keeper Michel Vorm could only watch.

The goal is funny enough on its own, but it’s even funnier when noted that Walker’s own goal, was in fact the very first goal scored in the Premier League this season.

Even worse for Tottenham is that it was the only goal scored all game, as Manchester United earned its way to a 1-0 victory without actually scoring any goals of their own. Not a great start to the season, Spurs.
