Watch This Little Baseball Player Stop Running The Bases To Tell His Dad He Loves Him

Presented above is a pretty great video of a young baseball player who is great at loving his family, and not so great at running the bases. In what looks to be an instructional-level baseball game, this little tyke hits a rolling ground ball and runs to first base, where he stops to tell the first base coach, who also happens to be the player’s dad, that he likes — no, he LOVES — him.

While this is sweet and cute and adorable and it will certainly be a video this family cherishes forever, it’s also an example of very poor base-running. I mean, if this is a decent representation of the kid’s understanding of how baseball works, man, he’s in a lot of trouble once these other kids get a better grasp on the game. Mr. Perfect Son can kiss his extra base hits goodbye because he’s absolutely toast if he thinks he can recite love poems on first base before rounding for second.

So, this kid probably isn’t “the next big thing” in baseball but he’s definitely got a future as a family man, and that’s pretty important too.
