Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan was involved in an incident at a New Orleans nightclub on Tuesday night that, while perhaps not quite as serious as the assault that may have gotten former Saints DE Junior Galette kicked off the team, still could produce criminal charges. According to a police report obtained by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, a woman claims Jordan slapped her butt, after which he scuffled with her boyfriend.
No charges have been filed at this point, and New Orleans police say they’re still reviewing security footage from the nightclub. The Saints have said they have no comment about the incident at this time.
Coming into this offseason, Jordan and Galette were supposed to be an effective pass-rushing duo for the Saints, each signed to long-term deals (Galette in last offseason, Jordan this year). But Galette wore out his welcome with the team, was cut, (and burned all of his bridges on the way out) and then tore his Achilles tendon for his new team up in Washington. Now Jordan has a new legal trouble to deal with. It doesn’t seem major, but it’s another headache for Rob Ryan’s defense on the eve of the NFL season.
