Arguably the most tortured fan base in baseball is prepared to do what any fans in their position would do: eat their feelings… and superstitions. Or, in this specific case, ask someone else to take on the eating challenge for them.

It’s been 70 long years since the Chicago Cubs were hit with the infamous “Billy Goat Curse,” marking the last time the Cubs won a National League pennant. It’s been even longer since they’ve taken home a World Series title. In order to reverse the curse, competitive eaters Takeru Kobayashi and L.A. Beast are planning to eat a 40-pound cooked goat in a single sitting. The feast-i-vus for the reast-i-vus is taking place Tuesday (today) at Chicago eatery Taco In A Bag.

And, in case you were wondering, here’s what cooked goat looks like:

And, in case you were also wondering, when we say these guys are planning to eat a goat, we mean the whole goat:

Kobayashi is a six-time Nathan’s Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest champion, while L.A. Beast’s claim to fame, per Barstool Sports, is having once “consumed an entire watermelon including the rind.”

The Cubs are in good position to at least make the playoffs this year. At 88-62 with 12 games remaining, the Cubs are in third place behind the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates in the loaded NL Central Division. ESPN currently says Chicago has a 99.9 percent chance of making the playoffs. The odds of the Cubs winning the NL pennant and possibly the World Series?

Clearly 100 percent — assuming Kobayashi and L.A. Beast can take down this goat.
