What Is Going On With These Bizarre Cincinnati Homecoming Uniforms?

Finally, the long, harsh offseason is over and college football is back. This means that we get innovative offenses and defenses, controversies about things like paying athletes and which teams should be in the playoffs at the end of the year, and most importantly, some of the weirdest uniforms that you’ll ever see.

Right now, it’s hard to imagine that any squad has a leg up on Cincinnati in the “weird uniform” department this season. The Bearcats announced on Thursday that they will wear special Under Armour uniforms for their homecoming game later this season. You saw the helmet at the top of this post, are you ready for the entire get up? Because it’s kind of crazy. Here we go…

According to the university, the jerseys pay homage to the 100-year anniversary of when the school broke ground on Nippert Stadium, while the bevy of triangles on the unis are “a nod to the iconic triangular architecture of the Richard E. Linder Athletic Center that the stadium overlooks.” As for the helmets, they’re hand painted, and the gold section “showcases the James Gamble Nippert Memorial displayed within Nippert Stadium.”

These unis are a mix of bizarre, awesome, innovative, and kinda hard to look at. Basically, they are the perfect representation of college football.
