The Indians’ Fireworks Guy Had A Very Bad Day At The Office, And Got Booed For It

The Cleveland Indians have not had much to cheer about the last two seasons. After a short-lived playoff run in 2013 that surprised a lot of the baseball world that they were even involved, it seemed at the time like the team was well-positioned for a sustained run of success. Unfortunately for the Indians and their fans, that hasn’t been the case, and 2015 is looking like yet another disappointing season.

On the flip side is the Kansas City Royals, who have practically assured themselves of back-to-back playoff berths. This, coming on the heels of a playoff drought that, before last year, had dated back to 1985. So, clearly, these are two baseball franchises heading in opposite directions.

For Cleveland’s fireworks operator, this reversal of fortune seems to have been the cause for some wishful thinking on Tuesday night. With the Royals up to bat in the top of the fifth inning, Alex Rios hit a solo home run to deep left, giving the Royals a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the fireworks operator got a bit trigger-happy, and set them off.

Afterwards, fans let him have it and the boos rained down, but at that point, they were pretty much beating a dead horse. This is clearly the look of a man who wishes he could be literally anywhere else.

Thankfully for some people, the end of the season is less than a month away.
