People Won’t Stop Texting This Poor Guy With Dee Gordon’s Old Cell Phone Number

Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon finished off a great 2015 season on Sunday, officially coming in as the National League’s batting champion and leader in stolen bases. Gordon, who was traded to the Marlins from the Dodgers this past offseason, is certainly worthy of significant praise for his performance this year.

That praise did indeed come, but some of it didn’t actually make it to the 27-year-old. Instead, some of that praise wound up in the hands of a Florida man named Joe Adel, who apparently possesses Gordon’s old cell phone number. Some friends and acquaintances of Gordon apparently didn’t get the memo that he changed phone numbers – in which case, how great of friends can they be? – so their congratulatory texts were sent to Adel instead.

Fortunately, Adel seems like a pretty nice guy. Instead of getting ticked off and annoyed by the inundation of texts, he snapped a photo of the texts and sent them to Gordon on Twitter to let him know that he was getting plenty of misdirected love. Adel is clearly a better man than I, for I probably would have turned around and incessantly prank called Gordon’s baseball peers until they got the hint.
