Four and a half years after San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was brutally beaten outside of Dodger Stadium, another incident of violence towards a visiting fan has occurred in Chavez Ravine. ABC 7 reports that after Game 1 of the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and the Mets, a verbal argument between fans of the opposing teams turned physical in the parking lot.

A Mets fan was reportedly punched and fell to the ground, hitting his head, which started bleeding profusely. Bystanders used the rally towels they were given at the game in attempts to stop the blood. The victim has reportedly stabilized, but remains in critical condition at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. The perpetrator is still at large, but the police say only that he was a tall man with blond hair.

The echoes of the Bryan Stow beating are loud with this incident. That story dragged on for months because of the severity of Stow’s injuries and the manhunt for the suspects, and this incident has the potential to do the same. Hopefully the Mets fan’s injuries are less severe and the pursuit of justice is more swift. Meanwhile, Dodger Stadium’s reputation as a dangerous place for opposing fans grows once again.
