Bills WR Sammy Watkins Calls Fans ‘Losers’ On Instagram, Then Deletes His Comments

As has been the case for the last 15 seasons, things are not going great in Buffalo. After a promising 2-1 start, including a narrow defeat to the mighty Patriots, the Bills have gone 1-3, most recently losing to the Jaguars. Sitting at 3-4 and last place in the AFC East is surely frustrating for fans and players alike.

On Tuesday night, wide receiver Sammy Watkins took to Instagram to vent some of those frustrations with this since-deleted comment, in which he calls fans “losers” who work “little jobs”:

Things have been extra rough for Watkins this season. He’s missed three games due to injury, and when he has played, he’s only been targeted an average of four times per game, something he spoke out about to the media a couple weeks ago:

“That’s what I get mad at,” Watkins said, “when I don’t get looked at. I can look at film and his eyes go straight that way and I’m not getting looked at, at all. That’s when I get frustrated. When I have one-on-one coverage, go to me. I don’t care what’s going on over there. I don’t care if he’s open. When I get one on one, just target me.”

Obviously, all of this is not a great idea — publicly trashing fans and teammates/coaches is never, ever beneficial. But for a guy who the Bills gave up a boatload to get, it’s at least understandable. He thought he was coming to a team on the ascent to be its star player. Unfortunately, neither of those seem true at the moment.
