Tyrann Mathieu Doesn’t Appreciate Fans Critiquing His Play On Twitter

The Arizona Cardinals had a chance to beat the undermanned Pittsburgh Steelers earlier today, and with the Steelers backed up to their 12 with just over two minutes left in the game the Cards needed a big stop. That all ended when Steelers’ receiver Martavis Bryant took a simple slant route and turned it into the longest play from scrimmage this season and a backbreaking touchdown for the Steelers.

The man guarding Bryant on that faithful play? Tyrann Mathieu, and not only did he get beat on the slant, he also missed a tackle and was stiff armed to the ground on the play. To add literal insult to figurative injury, the hecklers on Twitter decided to fire off at The Honey Badger after the game and the third year safety didn’t take too lightly to the heckling.

And he took onus for missing the tackle on Bryant but says he slipped.

Finally, Mathieu took the time to answer the question as to why he responds to the “hate” on Twitter.

Mathieu has developed into one of the best defensive backs in football, so it has to be a pain to sift through the constant complaints that find their way into his mentions on Twitter, but in 2015 that’s just part of the job.
