We’ve talked about this before, but it bears repeating: Basketball is a game in which you dribble the ball and put it in a basket. You can occasionally take steps with the ball, sometimes as many as two or three depending on the situation. If you’re feeling extra spicy (and you have a less-than official), you might get away with 3.5 steps. But for now, let’s stick to the basics. Two or three steps, pass or shoot, move on, yada yada yada.
What you cannot do is take five, six, or 12 steps like D.J. Augustin of the Thunder did here.
Listen, I feel pretty confident in calling this play a travel. In fact, in the words of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (*er, Potter Stewart), this is just one of those times where: “I know it when I see it.”

Of course, this travel pales in comparison to what happened last year with Corey Brewer and the travel heard ’round the world. Something that’s still being debated today.
